Pascom Activity – 26 November 2012

Hello everyone!

While I am away, please ensure you are able to create your blogs over the WordPress platform. Think of the central theme for your blogs (you may blog about practically anything), but make sure that what you like to blog about is something you’ll be passionate to write about for the long-term. This will take patience (seriously), so hinay-hinay lang gyod ta ani.

On your first post on your blog, I would like you to state what we should expect from your blog, and how regular you will be in posting, and a bit of yourself.

Below you will find useful tips for your first blog post (let’s source everything online since we’re part of that digital revolution). 🙂,0

I’d like to see your posts scheduled by 9:00 p.m., Tuesday. Schedule them accordingly.

See you on Friday/Saturday!

Plagiarism (repost from Jun Tariman’s blog)

This is from an original post by my former mentor in college and now Solar News executive Jun Tariman.

At a time when information over the Internet is so prevalent and easy to find, plagiarism is getting common, and it seems that people think it is evil only when they are caught.

Senator Tito Sotto today said sorry to Robert Kennedy for the plagiarism issue which caught the ire of a lot of netizens; however he quickly quipped that “copying is the highest form of flattery”.

You may follow the link below to find Tariman’s educative post:

Pascom 08 Laboratory Activity (Nov 12, 2012)

Hello guys!

Since today is our first meeting, I decided to post a video of Steve Jobscommencement speech at Stanford University. This will be our prelude for this course on the norms and technologies used  in the new media as we go along with the entire course for this semester.

The video can be found here:

After watching the video, I require you to email as attachment your reactions to this video, whether they be negative or positive. We will talk about your answers in our next meeting on Saturday.

You may talk about  Steve Jobs’ “perceived” significance in the development of how we use computers, the internet and new media in general; and his life-views as well. This lab activity is still part of our day one meeting, so nothing very formal at this moment though. 😀

Your reaction to this video should fill one page, but do not go beyond two pages on Arial 11 point formatting, single spaced. Click on the “No Spacing” style on MS Word 2007. For MS Word 2003 users this should not be a problem.

Please make sure that all your emails must reach my inbox before 9:00 p.m. tonight. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Please direct your questions to the College Secretary, or perhaps you may leave a comment on my blog. I will endeavor to go online on my blog.

Who's crying now?
